Daytime Mardi Gras 2024

Durham Central Park, Sunday, February 11, Noon – 6:00 PM

Durham’s usual Fat Tuesday evening events can be hampered by cold or wet weather. This daytime event on the Sunday before Mardi Gras under the Durham Central Park pavilion should be warmer and will not interfere with kids’ bedtime.

Dance, celebrate & be creative outdoors under the Durham Central Park Pavilion with live music, on-site second line parading, the Glass Jug beer tent and food trucks. There will be crafting and costuming booths including one for kids to make shoe-box floats. Inspired by New Orleans neighborhood festivities that crop up spontaneously in the streets on Mardi Gras Day, come get your bling on with your neighbors, as you also prepare for Fat Tuesday!
